Washington is working to devastate funding for cycling, pedestrians and the handicapped. This is the worst news in years as far as sustainable transportation is concerned. Check out www.bikeleague.org for the details and to find out what you need to do to help before the crucial vote on February 2nd.
On a lighter note today's commute was the best with another gorgeous day on the bike paths across the capital city. I parked the bike with 20.9 miles for the day.

A new commuter for Valentine's. The 2009 Trek FX 7.6.
The Mrs. with some help from the fine folks at the Bike Rack set me up with a bike I've wanted for years. Back in 2009 I rode this bike, yes, this very same exact bike, I loved it then, and now realized they had taken it to their Omaha store and marked it down. We had them send it back to Lincoln for another look and after giving it a good test ride I took it home for keeps. Check out their closeout bikes on line or in the basement of the Omaha Bike Rack. I took it to work giving it a healthy start on racking up the commute miles.
Today Lincoln's record breaking high temp hit 70'F.! Lots of bikes were out on the trails this afternoon as cyclists snuck out for a spin. Today's miles = 21.25.

68 degrees in early January!
The sun was out causing record high temps today and the bike paths in Lincoln were full of people enjoying it. I'm seeing fewer bums since the 27th St. overpass has been fenced off to keep the homeless from sleeping under the bridge. This should help cyclists feel more comfortable on the John Dietrich. Get out there and go for a spin. Today's miles = 20.75

The 2012 GPBC New Years Day Ride.
We met up for breakfast at Village Inn before riding around Holmes Lake and on to the Zoo then home. It was great to see everyone and talk about the rides we're going to do during 2012. Today's miles = 12.84
