Promoting the NSFW ride on the way home from work.

Daylight savings time made getting up and going on time tuff today. The trails greeted me with a stiff headwind on the ride across town to work.

But, this afternoons tailwind more than made up for it! Going South was fast and fun. I detoured to Joyride, Bike Pedalers, The Bike Rack & Cycle Works 70th St store to leave off flyers about the April 21st NSFW ride. Be sure to stop in and pick one up and take a look around. I made my way home past Holmes Lake. I can't wait to get the canoe out and do some fishing, it won't be long! Today's miles = 33.4

The First Annual NSFW Lincoln Tour Ride. Wednesday April 21, 2010.

I'm hosting a GPBC ride and hope you'll join us for the first annual NSFW Lincoln tour ride.

Not Sorry (for) Forgetting Work

Put in now to take April 21st (rain date 4/28) off as a vacation day to celebrate spring on a casual ride around Lincoln with like minded friends. Spend the workday riding, while your co-workers toil away.

Meet at 9am ride ends at 2pm all on city trails. 40-50 miles. 12-14 mph average speed.

Ride starts and ends at the intersection of the Rock Island Trail and Billy Wolff Trail on the North Side of the Zoo at 27th & Capital Parkway.

No fee to ride, but bring lunch money, lunch will be at your choice of Havelock restaurants.

Several Lincoln Bike Shops will have free refreshments, giveaways, discounts and prizes for NSFW riders! The route will include stops at these shops giving riders a chance to refuel, visit, shop, register for prizes, and use bathrooms or have mechanics make adjustments.

Bike Pedalers: Free Cultiva Coffee & Espresso, Recovery/Energy drinks, Bike adjustments, drawings for a $50, $30, & $20 Bike Pedalers gift certificate & a drawing for Lunch at Pepe's. All entrants get a coupon via email for 15% off any item or bike.

A Big Thanks to Joyride & CROPS!

Today I got a call from the staff at CROPS about the Farm Walk event we biked to late last week. They called to tell me I had won a Specialized bike computer in the drawing held for those that biked to the Farm Walk, it was donated by Joyride Bike Shop.

This afternoon I took a spin down to their office to pick up my winnings and visit about a garden ride their putting on this Sunday. I'll have more details about this in the days to come.

Tonight I attempted the gptn Slow & Go ride. 5 guys beside myself were there. They were out of my league, they all had road bikes weighing probally 12 lbs. Or less. (my bike weighs 42 lbs with all my junk on it) We headed S. and I soon made the mistake of pulling my phone out of my pocket. My grip wasn't good and it snaged on my pocket. I dropped it on the ground in the weeds on the side of the trail. I stopped to find it and by the time I was ready to roll, the group was long gone. So I tooled around on the Rock Island Trail and Hwy. 2 Trail. I racked up 16.1 miles before calling it a night. I either need to find a more casual group ride or I need to step up my riding, and leave my phone in my pocket. While out tonight I swung by the soon to come Joy Ride bike shop near 14th & Old Cheeney. It's coming along well and should be open soon. Looks like it'll be a great addition to Lincoln's bike scene.
