Nacho Riders Count.

I neglected to snap a picture, but volunteers from the GPTN were set up at the trail head on the Mopac counting trail users.

The Mopac has had brush trimmed back, but last night's storms left twigs scattered along the way. Evidently Patches tried to clear off debris by picking up branches with his bike.

We pushed against a bit of a head wind and rolled into Eagle as the wind died down. There was a fun group out tonight and we talked about this weekends Fox Hole 100 ride.

I had fun showing off my new Felt ZA tonight and it seemed happy to be on the Nacho Ride.

Shortly after leaving the trailhead I hit my 5,000th mile for 2010, my goal is 6,000 for the year, it'll be close!

Today's miles on the work commute and Nacho Ride = 48.5

Trails cleared and Shane's new/used Raleigh spotted on the commute.

Those volunteer trees that have been hogging up the Billy Wolff Trail have been sheered off so both lanes are usable again. Thanks to the city or GPTN or whoever took care of it. Great job!

On the way home from work I ran into Shane on his recently purchased - barely used Raleigh. It was a sweet find he ran across at Joyride and couldn't pass up.

Today's miles = 19.6

Stop & go traffic stinks! Roll through the city on your bike.

Lincoln has 128 miles of bike trail bliss. Take advantage of it and give riding to work or running errands by bike a try.

Thanks to the Antelope Valley Project trails you can ride from Military & Antelope Valley Parkway at the statefair grounds all the way to South street and only have to stop once at Randolph. (IF you even have to stop at the light) That's 3.6 miles.

Try finding a stretch of road in the heart of the city 3.6 miles long without any intersections or cross traffic to stop for!

You are running out of excuses, the time to start riding more is now.

Joy Ride Bicycles coming soon. And my Slow & Go drop.

Tonight I attempted the gptn Slow & Go ride. 5 guys beside myself were there. They were out of my league, they all had road bikes weighing probally 12 lbs. Or less. (my bike weighs 42 lbs with all my junk on it) We headed S. and I soon made the mistake of pulling my phone out of my pocket. My grip wasn't good and it snaged on my pocket. I dropped it on the ground in the weeds on the side of the trail. I stopped to find it and by the time I was ready to roll, the group was long gone. So I tooled around on the Rock Island Trail and Hwy. 2 Trail. I racked up 16.1 miles before calling it a night. I either need to find a more casual group ride or I need to step up my riding, and leave my phone in my pocket. While out tonight I swung by the soon to come Joy Ride bike shop near 14th & Old Cheeney. It's coming along well and should be open soon. Looks like it'll be a great addition to Lincoln's bike scene.
