Cycle Works Tomac Open House.

Tomac based out of Lincoln Ne held an event at Cycle Works tonight with a chance to see the line, visit with company reps and enjoy refreshments and prizes including a 29" MTB frame.

There was a good crowd and everyone was hopping to be drawn for the frame. Jim came away with first prize. It was a great chance to see friends and browse the store.

After riding to this mornings bike to work event, riding on to work, then later to Cycle Works on 27th I got 35.4 miles for the day.

Lincoln's bike to work week kick-off event.

Bike to work week is next week, and Lincoln kicked it off today with a big event featuring food, booths, and prizes to encourage Lincoln residents to start commuting by bike.

The event was well publicized and well attended. There were around 100 attendees. Kudos to the organizers, volunteers, and sponsors!

Finding HOPE on the Nacho Ride.

After taking the last several days off the bike due to family obligations, rotten weather, and laziness it was great to get out tonight for the Tuesday night Nacho Ride.

Someone left a fixture of hope along the trail and Patches was willing to demonstrate it for the benefit of my blog readers. He stopped to drop a duce on the way. Then on the way back he shows readers it's usefulness after too many of those tasty cold beers at the OED in Eagle. But he also reminds us that the trailside bushes are there for those who tend to bask in modesty.

Dan was spotted surveying the long line of bikes outside the One Eye'd Dog Saloon where riders refueled on nachos and 75 cent tacos. I'd guess there were probably 40 Nacho Riders through the night, but it's hard to tell since people make the trek throughout the evening. Tonight the trail was damp and the mushy conditions made pedaling a little tougher than most Tuesday nights. Here's hopping to see you soon out on the Nacho Ride! Today's miles = 28.0

Stopped at Ole's on the commute home.

I rode to work & back today and stopped to drop off my Brooks bag at Ole's on the way home to get it fixed. It should be done in a week. $12 to replace the broken leather straps with new heavy duty nylon and new hardware. Seems fair to me. Today's miles = 21.6

The Brooks bag broke, a commute & a half & a ride to church.

This morning's ride to work was going great till I hopped off the curb and crossed Cornhusker Ave (a busy 4-lane) I heard my bag hit the street. I stopped quick and retrived it to find that the leather straps had finally wore through.

After riding home, I had to go back across town to the office again. I needed to drive, but took the bike and rode it home and just left the pick-up at work. It'll be nice to have it there anyway when I sneak out over lunch Friday to get some loot for the misses for Mother's Day.

Then this evening our youngest and I rode our Felts to church and back. Today's miles = 39.5

The 3rd Anniversary Nacho Ride.

Tonight the Nacho Ride officially began for the season by celebrating the 3rd anniversary of the casual weekly ride to Eagle.

A good sized crowd was on hand (estimated at 85) including Lance from 10\11 who was taping a segment for Lances Journal that will air on the 6:00 news tomorrow. There was cake too. Make plans to Nacho Ride on Tuesday nights from the Mopac trailhead on 84th (just South of O st.) 10 easy miles through the country to Eagle for Nachos or 75 cent tacos at the One Eye'd Dog Saloon. You'll love it.

I haven't been able to ride yesterday or today till the Nacho Ride. It felt great to be back on the bike again tonight. Today's miles = 28.0

We Crashed The Marathon!

A race was put togther along the Lincoln Marathon route before it began today. We met up at 3 am and began at 3:30. It was a perfect morning for a fast spin. Since there weren't many racers willing to get up / stay up we rode togther and stopped for breakfast at the Hi-Way Diner less than half-way through.

After some fuel we finished the marathon on two wheels. The winner beat me to the finish line by 15 seconds and I came away with the prize for DFL. The Crash The Marathon race was a brilliant idea copied from a LA Ca. alleycat style race held before their marathon. After riding back home as the sun rose over Lincoln I had 34.4 miles for the day by 6:30 am. Now, time for a nap.

Just Do It!

This morning a dozen of us met up at Holmes Lake for a road ride with the GPBC called the "Just Do It" ride. We took the trails out to Hwy 2 then East before turning North to Eagle and back in the wind to Lincoln. It was a fun and fast ride. Now, for a little R & R before a very early morning race. Today's miles = 38.5

April ends with the evening spent at Critical Mass.

The night was perfect as dozens of us rode the downtown streets for Critical Mass. It's a great chance to see old friends and meet new ones. After riding to work and back, plus critical mass I got a total of 33.5 miles today. That puts April's mileage at 745.4 miles of fun. What a great month! Hope to see you out on your bike during May!
