We rode through downtown and the Haymarket area. It was a great night for a spin and it was fun to see everyone. I got lots of comments and compliments on the Cross Check.
Today I had to be in Omaha and couldn't ride to work. But did ride on tonight's Critical Mass. I took Trusty Rusty out for the ride and met up with an intimate group. We cruised downtown and through the Haymarket then ended the ride at Screen Ink for tonight's event.
A good crowd was on hand to pick out bike posters designed by local artist and have custom made shirts printed with some of the same designs used on the posters. The show was a great chance to hang out with other bike lovers and talk about rides we've been on and are planning on doing. Tonight's miles = 13
Today was the last Friday of the month and that's when Lincoln cyclist celebrate bikes and remind motorists that two wheels can be an option too. The crowd was a little sparse since many of the regulars were out of town for the long weekend. Critical Mass and today's work commute earned me 32.7 miles for the day.
The night was perfect as dozens of us rode the downtown streets for Critical Mass. It's a great chance to see old friends and meet new ones. After riding to work and back, plus critical mass I got a total of 33.5 miles today. That puts April's mileage at 745.4 miles of fun. What a great month! Hope to see you out on your bike during May!
Tonight, and every last Friday of the month is Critical Mass.
We had a good turnout and rode around downtown Lincoln sharing our love for bikes with the city. I rode Trusty Rusty, and had a ton of fun.
I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that today is the NOA Blog's 1st birthday! Thanks for following me on all my outdoor adventures during the last year. I hope you've been having as much fun outdoors as I have.
Today's miles including the commute to work and Critical Mass = 36.5
How often does that happen? I was in the big ring all the way! This morning a breeze came out of the South and the ride home treated me to a strong North wind. Easy, easy riding!
Everyone else is talking about it, you could say the 'cat is out of the bag' on the Scrabble Hustle (alleycat race) planned for Thursday night. Come out for some hardcore urban fun. But, give them a heads-up first so they'll have you on the list. Also, Friday night is Critical Mass, meet on the North side of the Capital at 6:00pm.
Hey, I hit my first thousand miles on the Felt today, it took a long time with the rotten winter we had, the next thousand will add up much faster!

I took Trusty Rusty out for her maden spin and loved showing it off and riding the streets of downtown Lincoln with 21 other bike loving friends.
Today seemed balmy with a high of 36'. TR doesn't have an odometer and wont But I'm going to guess the ride there and back and cruising downtown 14 miles for the day's total mileage.
In Lincoln Critical Mass is always the last Friday of the month. We meet on the North side of the Capital at 6pm and ride downtown at 6:30 demonstrating the fun and practicality of cycling, and to remind everyone that bikes are a smart alternative to cars and have a right to the roads we all share.
Despite the 15' temps tonight around 30 riders took part in the fun and camaraderie. Cyclist were treated to free vegetarian burritos afterward by the folks from Food Not Bombs.
Seeking a place to warm up following the ride we took the opportunity to check out an art exhibit at UNL's Student Union. The social atmosphere tonight was as cool as the weather. Make plans to ride at next month's Critical Mass, it's a short ride at slow speeds, giving everyone a chance to visit and have fun.
Tonight's miles = 11.7 January's total miles = 42.32
A good crowd was at the October Critical Mass ride tonight. Food Not Bombs was again on hand giving out free bowls of hot potato soup, it hit the spot on this cool ride!

My families plans for the evening were rained out, so I was able to make it to the Critical Mass Ride.
Nearly 50 bike lovers braved the damp evening to demonstrate downtown how much fun cycling is. We met on the North side of the Capital and rode the streets downtown and in the Haymarket. Sharing with the public an awareness that bikes are vehicles and have a right to the road. As well as showing how safe, practical and enjoyable urban bike riding can be.
We were treated to some awesome vegan burritos afterward and had a chance to visit on UNL's grounds.
The Critical Mass Ride is the last Friday of each month, mark your calendar to join us and share your passion with like minded friends.
Today's miles on the commute to work and tonight's CM ride totaled 32.95 miles.
I grew up in Central Nebraska riding my bike to a country school, shooting sparrows around the farm with my daisy and fishing in local farm ponds or the loup river. Weekends were often spent at Harlan Reservoir. My family has always taken recreating seriously and it was deeply instilled in me. I evolved to become a avid fisherman and hunter from about age 10 to 15 then got into cars and girls and totally lost interest.
As my own 3 kids have come of age I've got back into outdoor sports and try to nurture a love of the outdoors in them.
I hope my blog encourages you to get out and play, and to include those close to you. You don't need the latest equipment or tons of time, just get out there with what you've got every chance you get. Encourage others to take part, be safe, responsible, and project a good image of the sports you love. Finally, give back, by building awareness, contributing volunteer time or money, and introducing others to the sport, so future generations can enjoy the leisure activities you love. I encourage you to comment on my posts, tell others about nebraskaoutdooraddict.blogspot.com and check back often.
