Trail users surveyed today.

If you were on the trails this afternoon you might have found volunteers posted along Lincoln's trails counting users and asking passers-by to complete a short survey about their trail use.

Rode to work and back, then later our youngest and I took a ride to the grocery store totaling 21.22 miles today.

Rats! Gnats!

This is a picture of the front of my shirt on my commute home from work today. My arms, face & legs had em too. Yuck, nasty! You definitely want to keep your mouth shut and wear glasses. Most of the summer, the bugs weren't bad, but their making up for it now. Today's miles = 19.68

The Nacho Appreciation Ride.

A gorgeous night was on tap for the Nacho Appreciation Ride tonight. The One Eye'd Dog Saloon handed out prizes throughout the night to lucky riders.

While my ticket wasn't drawn during the time we were there, I did come away with a 312 water bottle, thanks I think, to Cleatus strong arming D.D. On his way out of the OED.

Now that I am a documented "local cycling celebrity" (see the poll on http://www.nachoride.com/) (your encouraged to vote for me! * hint, hint *) I feel like I'm obligated to have an entourage to roll with. Well, my peeps and I got a chance to really try out our lights after riding toward the setting sun and into darkness.

The Nacho Ride was a great way to cap off the day and put today's mileage total in the books at 45.15 miles. Be sure to join us every Tuesday for the Nacho Ride!

A Big Thanks to Joyride & CROPS!

Today I got a call from the staff at CROPS about the Farm Walk event we biked to late last week. They called to tell me I had won a Specialized bike computer in the drawing held for those that biked to the Farm Walk, it was donated by Joyride Bike Shop.

This afternoon I took a spin down to their office to pick up my winnings and visit about a garden ride their putting on this Sunday. I'll have more details about this in the days to come.

A big thank you to CROPS for a great experience at the Farm Walk! And thank you to Joyride for sponsoring prizes and supporting local cycling events!

Antelope valley project work continues.

I rode home from the office, the trails were full of bikers headed from work or just out enjoying the weather. Construction workers continue to progress to the South, once it's done, the new trails running under streets will make the commute faster and much safer. I can't wait! Today's miles = 10.04

Hey! Look! the Nacho Appreciation Ride is Tuesday 9/15! Fun, Food, Prizes!

Now that the riding weather is perfect, don't lose steam, we've been practising all summer and now we're ready to have a great time on the Nacho Appreciation Ride. This should be a big one with prizes every 15 minutes and a costume contest. Click here to brush up on past Nacho Rides or click here for the official Nacho Ride site and all the details on the big Nacho Appreciation Ride.

Bike swap draws crowd to benefit Optimist.

Bike lovers gathered today to shop used bikes and parts as well as accessories. Lots of variety in the inventory and a fun chance to recycle a previously loved bicycle. Later this afternoon our youngest and I took a short spin down the Billy Wolff Trail to take in some of today's perfect weather. Today's miles = 5.70

Rode bikes out to the CROPS farm walk event.

A group of us met up at the Open Harvest Coop Store on South St and rode out to the Sunset Community Farm for the 2009 Farm Walk. It was an opportunity for the public to see a working sustainable vegetable farm. The Farm Walk was a neat event showcasing the work of farmers, staff & volunteers. There was live acoustic music, tours, great food, booths, and kids activities. Find out more on their site www.communitycrops.org Today's miles = 19.11
