Rode bikes out to the CROPS farm walk event.

A group of us met up at the Open Harvest Coop Store on South St and rode out to the Sunset Community Farm for the 2009 Farm Walk. It was an opportunity for the public to see a working sustainable vegetable farm. The Farm Walk was a neat event showcasing the work of farmers, staff & volunteers. There was live acoustic music, tours, great food, booths, and kids activities. Find out more on their site www.communitycrops.org Today's miles = 19.11

Darker morning commutes.

Using lights all the way to work anymore. But the weather is great and the time outdoors is well spent.

Caught up with a riding buddy on his commute home from work this afternoon giving us a chance to visit while riding. The great thing about biking is the friends you meet and get to know while riding.

A family day at the Nebraska State Fair.

Sunday we went to check out the fair. Lots to see and do! We had a great time during the 6+ hours we were there.

Fishing in N. Central Ks.

While the girls visited and went to church. The boys and I were guided on a great large mouth and pan fish pond tour. We caught a ton and enjoyed a whole day of great weather and excellent fishing! A special thanks to our wonderful hostes for a weekend our family will never forget.

Others are gardening for their families and a communal plot has crops grown for farm income. Everyone is welcome, whether you want to see a working sustainable vegetable farm, or are interested in having a plot of your own next year. Bring your friends. Kids are welcome! The farm is at SW 40th and West F Streets. Take A Street west to SW 40th and turn right. Follow the road to F Street and turn left. You'll see a red building on your immediate right, which is the farm site. Signs will be posted. Map to the farm Note: Occasionally map sites recommend taking West O to SW 40th Street, but it has been closed from that side. You need to go out west A Street to get to the farm. Plans are being made for a group bike ride to the farm--let us know if you're interested. Printable flyer for posting
