Survey says! The Tuesday Nacho Ride shouldn't be missed.

The NRD has a new survey box up at the trail head, Jon and Craig were happy to take part. We got to see the turning leaves on the way to Eagle. On the way back Council was sporting his new light. I can't believe he finally broke down and bought one! Today's miles on the commute and Nacho Ride = 47.9

Today's commute was awesome. This morning was peaceful with a light fog in some areas. The way home had a stiff tail wind making it a fast and easy ride back.

A cyclist dropped a good tube and tire lever on the Billy Wolff trail. If it's yours let me know.

Secret MTB trails.

Some of the folks from Bike Pedalers own land that has been developed into an amazing mountain biking spot. They've been very selective about who was invited out to this secret MTB heaven. This week the property was listed on Craigslist so after all the work they've put into the trails the guys wanted to show it off and have some fun riding before it's too late. I talked our oldest son into letting me borrow his Marin MTB and headed out to this secret private Eden. Once there, I got the grand tour. The trails are well made and full of sweet features! As I arrived they'd just built a vertical wall. We built up a berm before and after it, then tried our luck letting the g-force carry us through when we found the right line... when we didn't we got a chance to practice emergency off camber breaking. When you had the guts to hit it hard enough to stick it the wall was too fun! Back at the cabin the fire pit was the place to share stories and relax. It was an honor and a privilege to be invited and riding those trails made this afternoon one I'll never forget. There were a slew of other biking events going on all day today in Lincoln, and I hated to miss them, but chances like this can't be passed up. Hopefully a cyclist will be the buyer, it'd be a shame for this all to go to waste. It's an amazing place!

A family ride to the zoo and Ivanna Cone.

It was a busy day with the family and this afternoon we took a ride to the zoo to see the new penguins. We even got to visit with John Chapo who said visitors had complained about finding parking and that he thought it was cool that we'd biked. Afterward we went to Ivanna Cone for a treat. We also got to see runners finish the Market To Market Relay. It was a great day for a ride and tomorrow is packed full of tons of biking events in Lincoln. Hope to see you out tomorrow! The former Holdrege street overpass is being replaced with a connecting path.

This'll connect the John Dietrich bikeway with the Antelope Valley Trail that connects cyclist to the rest of the city paths. The trail has been poured, now we just wait for the new bridge. Today's miles on the work commute = 20.0

The unofficial fall Nacho Ride started today.

I was running behind and had to catch up with everyone in Walton. We had a good night for the ride and a nice sized crowd biked out for food, drinks and fun. We'll continue to Nacho Ride on Tuesday evenings as long as the weather holds out. With today's commute and my shortened Nacho Ride I totaled 34.6 miles today.

I forgot to blog yesterday's commute lastnight, but I logged 19.7 miles going to work and back on Monday.

Super Sunday Century - Lincoln to Nebraska City and back.

Patches recently had the idea that we ride another century yet this year and wanted to go to Nebraska City. I was game and invited others to come along for part of the way, or the whole day. Six of us met up at Holmes Lake at 7:00 this morning even though it was only 35'F.

We took the Antelope Creek Trail out to Highway 2 and turned east. By about 9:00 all but Patches and I had peeled off to ride to Eagle or back to Lincoln.

Patches and I rode into a light headwind to Nebraska City and made a b-line for downtown. We found a great restaurant and had dinner (not to be confused with supper). Then we rode around Nebraska City a little. We made our way to Arbor Lodge and the Lied Lodge then rode down some of Nebraska City's bike path.

We got back on Highway 2 and with a breeze at our backs we rolled back to Lincoln. We got back a couple of miles short of a century so we rode a lap around Holmes Lake to hit 100 miles for the day. It was Patches 3rd century after the one on TDN and Gravel Worlds earlier this year. Today was my 2nd for 2010 after the one I got on TDN. This was the first time either of us had rode to Nebraska City. It was a great day to spend on bikes and definitely the easiest century I've ever done. Today's miles = 101.3

Today's ride to work and back was a bit slow after last nights race but as always it beat the heck out of driving. When you head to the garage for your next trip, grab your bike off of the rafters rather than fire up the money burner. You'll be glad you did. Today's miles = 19.9
